The Perfect Wedding Suit

When it comes to the wedding, most of the talk is about the bride and what she’s going to wear. But guys also have to put some serious thought into their appearance if they don’t want need to embarrass themselves and their new wives during that walk down the aisle.

So the wedding plans are in full swing. The bride is busy picking out decorations and trying on gowns, making sure everything is just so. In all of this the groom’s main job is to make sure he doesn’t make the bride look bad. There are a few important things grooms need to consider when putting together their wedding.

The do’s and don’ts of choosing a suit for grooms:

  1. Go to a good tailor and make sure your suit fits you just so. Don’t rent or borrow a suit for the big day.
  2. Select a classic colour such as black, navy blue, broken white or grey. Don't pick an unusual colour, because the groom should look like a prince in a fairy tale not a clown in a circus.
  3. Pick a classic suit model that will never go out of style. If you dress according to the latest trend, chances are you will look at your wedding pictures ten years from now and wonder what you were thinking. You want the kind of suit your son could wear one day to his own wedding.
  4. Be careful when deciding on accessories. The wedding ring is mandatory. You want a watch that is nice but not too fancy, a good pair of cufflinks and a pocket square for a bit of decoration.
  5. Don’t overdo it with the ornaments. Unless it’s a traditional outfit with a lot of embroidery, just keep it simple.
  6. Wear black leather dress shoes.

Grooms, all this wedding stuff can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Remember, keep it simple and keep it classic, and you can’t go wrong.
